One Birthday Down and 9 Fingers to Go

Lucky, I miss going on train rides. Sometimes they are the best way to travel. I also miss Cali a lot too.  I ate a lot of cake. The one from you, celebrate one with people i teach, and a member got a lucky guess. We are getting along great. Nope. Meeting new people, it is great to learn their life story. No, just went to go watch a temple musical the church producted for people.

Elder Hernandez broke his finger in late February/early March. His letters and messages have been short because of this.

We can be forgiven

Rueben J Clark JR "I feel the Savior will give that punishment which is the very least that our transgression will justify. I believe that He will bring into His justice, all of the infinite love & blessings & mercy & kindness & understanding which he has.....
on the other hand he will give the maximum it is possible to give for rewarding our good conduct~ keeping in mind the offense we have committed."

I love this statement to me it is saying that our Savior will give us the most he can possible give us in wiggle room, he will make up as much as He possibly can. We just have to do our part and He really will do the rest. He will also recognize all the good we do and give us all the extra credit He can for that.
I also believe because of His example we need to do what we can in giving others credit, for noticing their efforts, for forgiving them when they ask for forgiveness, trust them like he trust us to truly be giving all they can. We need to follow our Saviors example in treating others the way  he would, but we also need to remember to treat yourself the way He would. We need to speak to yourself the ways he would, love
yourself the way He does.

This  week I hope we can give other the benefit of doubt and esp ourselves

thank you for the reminder of our Savior love, there is none better except his. One day we will meet with him and his mercy will help save us.

Conference Saturday~ Words from Mom

In  Elder Donald L Hallstorm talk "I am a child of God" he shares
that most everyone participating in the meeting could probably sing the song "I Am a Child of God." He then declared, "But, the critical question is, 'Do we really know it?' Do we know it in our mind and in our heart and in our soul? Is our heavenly parentage our first and most profound identity?" he asked. This identity should supersede other worldly identities, including those given by nationality, occupation or language.
In life, everyone faces hardships, pain, injustice and disappointment, Elder Hallstrom said. "When difficult things occur in our lives, what is our immediate response? Is it confusion or doubt or spiritual withdrawal?" he asked. "Or is our first response to remember who we are — that we are children of a loving God?"

Elder Hernandez's Church Talk

We got asked to speak in sacrament. The topic was have courage to go out & share the gospel. Which was easy since that's what I'm focused on in my life right now. It's the first time they have asked me to speak in sacrament since I came out on my mission,  I was a little nervous but  It was good. I know you wanted me to send you a copy of my talk but I because most of it came to me when I was up there.  I was able to speak from the heart, it came easily, and went smoothly. I liked it better because I had things to talk about & I don't feel like I was just reading off a piece of paper. I know I must have prepared well, and that allowed the Holy Ghost to help me clearly say what I was thinking.

New Ward, New Places

New ward? How is it?
We cover the Haven Cove and Meridian 1st ward. We have a few people in each ward to teach,

Q: the lesson I teach in Relief Society this month has to do with the Holy Ghost & having his constant companionship, what thoughts do you have about this? As a missionary how important is the Holy Ghost? How has he blessed your life?
A: It is important to have the Holy Ghost with you, because without him you don't have peace. We need him to help us teach, and it is through him that people accept the gospel. The Holy Ghost will stay with them while we constantly change. If we live wickedly it is hard for us to listen to the Holy Ghost and have his constant companionship. It is a great tool in live to use.

Q: how are you? Tell me the most memorable part of the last week.
A: I got to watch a whole family be baptize into the church on Saturday, well most of them. 6 of them were of age, the other 5 are under 8. It was an amazing spirit there watching the family entering their next phrase in life and come closer to Christ. On Friday we were leaving out the door and I took the Book of Mormon that I was using to study from. I didn't use it as we were waiting for the meeting. When we saw our investigator she was going through a rough time the past few days and we were trying to comfort her. She lost her copy and I ha a prompting to give her the book. When I did my bag felt so much lighter like there was nothing there.

Your Next Steps

Thought by Elder Randall Bennett~ your next step Oct General Conference 2015

My heart sank during a recent meeting with wonderful Latter-day Saints. The question was asked, “Who desires to live with Heavenly Father again?” Every hand went up. The next question was “Who has confidence you’ll succeed?” Sadly and surprisingly, most hands went down.
When we perceive a gap between who we are now and who we desire to become, many of us are tempted to choose to lose faith and hope.1
Because “no unclean thing can dwell with God,”2 in order to live with Him again we will need to be cleansed of sin3 and sanctified.4 If we had to do this alone, none of us would make it. But we are not alone. In fact, we are never alone.
We have heaven’s help because of Jesus Christ and His Atonement.5 The Savior said, “If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.”6 When faith is exercised, faith increases.

Without him, we can't overcome death, or be born in the first place. It is always nice to hear about what can be done when we turn to him. It be one great reunion when we see Him again. Don't forget to include in you pray about saying I love you Heavenly Father. It always seem when I say it it brings me joy.~love Elder Hernandez

Jedi in Training

I was talking to the Mission President during our interview and I asked him if taking investigators to go watch Ep 7 was allowed. He told me that it takes a lot of training to become a jedi and I still got a year and a half to go. I told him he still has 6 more months to go before he is fully trained too.
We got to met this one family who I want to get closer to. They make tamilas on Saturday and if we stop by he'll give us some.

When the new year started the MP challenged us to read all the Book of Mormon and highlight different verses with 6 different colors. One is for Christlike attributes, one for faith in Jesus Christ, one for Repentance, one for Baptism, one for the Holy Ghost, and one for Enduring to the End. I had to restart because I give my original book to a investigator to read. That was my plan in the first place, but I thought it wouldn't be until I finished the book. But the Holy Ghost prompted me to share that one with them so I did. So I started s new one & when I'm done will find someone else to give it to.  I started doing the same thing for the whole standatd works.

Something that has brought me joy this week is  seeing  a Less Active working towards the temple. He is having problems with diabetes and we are trying to help him get better. He lost his pinky toe but we are trying to use this as a sign that he doesn't have to lose his foot or leg before he wants to be really focus on stop eating the junk food. He has a really good attitude & a lot of faith.

We were able to hit all of our goals, that we set for last week, we actually surpassed most of them.

Love ~Elder Hernandez

Mini Update

For pday this week we are going to do pedicures today, I know you love getting yours.

Q) why does a missionary need to have faith?
A)Without faith why are we out here. We need faith to be able to teach. I know that I'm not a very good public speaker so be able to have someone there is help is great. If I open my mouth the Holy Ghost will guide my words.

my favorite scriptures to share right now
Alma 32 and Moroni 12. They both talk about faith. Or the steps to recovery.

The Parable of the Pebbles

The Parable of the Pebbles

One night in ancient times, three horsemen were riding across a desert. As they crossed the dry bed of a river, out of the darkness a voice called, “Halt!” They obeyed. The voice then told them to dismount, to pick up handfuls of pebbles, put the pebbles in their pockets, and remount. The horsemen followed the instruction.
The voice then said, “If you have done as I commanded, tomorrow at sunup you will be both glad and sorry.” The horsemen rode on. When the sun rose, they reached into their pockets and found that a miracle had happened. The pebbles had been transformed into diamonds and other precious stones.
The horsemen remembered the warning that they would be both glad and sorry. They were glad they had taken some pebbles, sorry they had not taken more.
